Get to know us
Benjy Rowlands and Tom Rainey met in Iceland during the summer of 2021. From the moment the boys looked eye to eye it was clear they were going to carve a future together on some of the least maintained roads and lesser archived rivers.
With 20 years of kayaking behind each of the boys, on rivers covering most continents in the world, Benjy and Tom have built a database of experience that covers a vast amount of situations that can occur.
From that the boys have an ability to understand the inherent risks involved in both the planning and execution of river trips, whether it be on your local river or the Rhondu Gorge.
Tom and Benjy established River People in 2026 with a view to create unforgettable adventures tailored to peoples own imagination as well as their own.
River People’s vision is to create river trips primarily in the UK utilising the vast river networks embedded deep in our national parks, as well as trips further afield to some of the most spectacular mountain ranges.
Our Philosophy
To provide people with an a place to let their imagination come to life and create kayaking trips that seem beyond the realms of possible, whether that be in the Scottish Highlands, Peaty moors of Dartmoor, or towering mountains of the Karakorum.
River people believe anything can be achieved and seek to empower people with safe, inspiring and extraordinary adventures on and off the river.
